Tourism Up at Coastal Sihanoukville Province
PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – Preah Sihanoukville, one of the country’s four coastal provinces, welcomed 885,398 tourists in the first half of 2015. This is an increase of 15.87 percent compared to the same period last year, according to report of provincial Tourist Department of Preah Sihanoukville.
Nou Sophal, director of the Tourism Department in Preah Sihanouk, said that there were 669,066 local tourists, and increase of 18.73 percent, while overseas tourists totaled 216,332, up 7.83 percent.
For the entire year of 2014, Preah Sihanoukville hosted 1,327,748 tourists both as a solo travelers or either on a tour packages Cambodia, an increase of over 28 percent compared to the year before, according to official figures.
To boost the number of visitors to the Kingdom’s four provinces, Ministry of Tourism has organized the Sea Festival event, which is run annually at these four provinces: Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kep and Kampot.
